Kiersten Hackman

To me, RFI is a cornerstone example of local organizing with an impact on people and nature, of food justice, labor justice, and climate justice done right, of problem solving with remarkable creativity and intentional cultural competency. My time there has fundamentally shifted how I understand the possibilities of intersectional climate justice work, inspiring my current studies and encouraging me to engage in different ways of knowing. What a blessing it is to work with such a lovely team of people!

Make it stand out

Working with RFI has changed the way I think about the future of agriculture. It is incredibly inspiring to learn about agroforestry and bamboo architecture and see these practices be successfully implemented. I especially admire the community-focused mindset that everybody at RFI harnesses— everything is done as a team with full effort and passion from the entire community. I love that you get to travel, be immersed in a new culture, and have a real impact on the earth all within one trip. I cannot wait to share my excitement with other students and help expand RFI’s mission!
