Amaya Ruiz-Duarte
My name is Amaya Ruiz, but everyone calls me Yaya :) I’m currently in my last year of undergrad at Cal, studying Ecosystems Management & Forestry along with Society & Environment, with a minor in Global Poverty. I was born and raised in the Bay Area :) But I also lived in Miami, Florida for my first two years of undergrad. I really enjoy traveling, trying new cuisines, music, drawing, hiking, swimming, basically ANYTHING in nature lol. A few random fun facts is I have my SCUBA license, I know how to walk on stilts, and I can tie shoes with my toes 😭. I’m so excited to be a campus representative this year for RFI; my time in Ecuador was LIFE CHANGING!
Rhodes Ngabirano
Hello! My name is Rhodes Ngabirano and I’m a third year at UC Berkeley majoring in Architecture. Some of my hobbies are painting and watching movies. My top two movies are Everything, everywhere, all at once and Sinners. A fun fact about me it’s that I LOVE cows!
Derrick Leroy
Derrick is a fourth-year undergraduate at UC Berkeley, where he studies landscape architecture and sustainable design. When he’s not hitting the books, you’ll probably find him soaking up the sun or tearing up the mountain on his skis when there's snow. He has a real passion for plants, so much so that he even taught a tree identification class at Berkeley. This year, he’s hoping to beat his half-marathon time and spend more quality time cooking meals with friends.
Nalini Sadler
Hey! My name is Nalini, but most people just call me Nani. I’m studying Public Health at UC Berkeley, and I’m super excited to be part of RFI because its mission really resonates with what I’m passionate about, combining public health with climate wellness. I’m all about community and believe that real change happens when people come together. I also love film, and I want to use that passion to raise awareness and inspire others. I carry the education I get to help me find ways to make a real difference, and I’m excited to use it to motivate and empower others along the way!
