I valued my time at RFI in May so much more than I anticipated. I loved learning about agroforestry and seeing it in practice. Learning how to build with bamboo was both fun and challenging. It provided insight into what working with a sustainable material can look like. And the people I met reignited my passion for environmental work and reaffirmed my faith that others want to do this work along with me.

My time at RFI was one of the most transformative experiences of my life. Traveling to Ecuador with no prior knowledge of agroforestry, I was immersed in a completely new field and learned an incredible amount through hands on work and direct engagement with local communities. Each day offered real world examples of how sustainable land management and community led initiatives can create lasting impact. My favorite part of the trip was building the bamboo structure, which sparked a deep appreciation for the complexity, artistry, and sustainability of bamboo architecture.
